Finally, a busy day! Our picks for today are as follows:

'Caprio' - 7.10 Kempton Park @ 9/1 Bet365, Victor Chandler and Betfred

'Sir Winston' - 4.00 Taunton @ 9/2 general. This is the lowest acceptable price we feel for this horse, so do not take anything lower.

'Takeaway' - 4.40 Kempton Park @ 13/8 Betfred and Boylesports. As this price is already short, we advise you to ensure B.O.G on this selection (as we do for all our selections) but to also not take a price below 6/4.

Some of these have been crushed because of the poor lines that were initially set (due to the short break in the last 2 days football and a number of other soft factors outside of my control or ratings) but all are now available at or above the prices I have them in at. Best price is always a must but today its a must x 4

WBA for example I have them in at 4/6 here, they were 11/10 and are now 10/11 so its still a bet

Barnet I had 4/6 they were 6/5 but now 10/11. Still value according to me.

Just gives you a little idea of the underlying - there's value left on the table, just not as much as was around early yesterday sadly. Fleetwood and reading are not so strong in the market - the others are pretty strong.

Midweek French Football Results

A little sickening to be honest!

Brest and Arles could only draw 0-0, but the biggest blow came in Bordeaux where Lens surrendered a 2-0 HT lead and a one man advantage to draw 2-2 with the equaliser coming in the 92nd minute. A bit gutting, especially after it would have recorded a +5.8pts profit on the game!

Instead, it is a -3pt loss.

So pretty much a break-even return on an interrupted weekend of sport in general. Our biggest stake bet of Sunderland came home early, but we had to wait for Everton tonight to rescue us from what looked like might be a small loss on the weekend. We can feel a touch aggrieved though, Hoffenheim surrendered a 2-goal lead in the dying minutes to draw with Wolfsburg, and if any of you saw the Ipswich-Leicester match, that should have definitely been postponed! 

Hopefully some of this weather clears up a touch, its frustrating to say the least! The Christmas period is generally very busy for us, so expect a fair bit of activity on this blog.

A pretty decent week, and finally eradicates our losses on football selections overall - a very welcome scenario. We point to some good luck, and some bad, but we can not complain with the outcome. Our biggest bet of the weekend in terms of staking was Bolton. In the end, they were probably quite fortunate to win late on with 10men after being under the cosh against a Blackburn side playing to true Sam Allardyce tactics. Walsall also gave us a great result away at Charlton and Hercules came from behind to win. That said we feel a touch unfortunate with Cheltenham, who conceded an equaliser in the dying seconds, and they were a juicy price. Burnley lost despite having a 2-goal lead to Leeds, and West Brom were unlucky not to come away with anything from Villa Park. Still, a very good weekend, it has to be said!

Friday's Horses
One winner and one loser. Rubi Dia went off at 9/4 and won the 2.05 at Southwell, but our other pick, Captain John Nixon lost. +1.25pts for the day


Saturday's Horses
Same again, with one winner and one loser. Indian Violet won at advised price of 11/4, but Espy could only manage 5th place. +1.75pts for the day


Sunday's Horses
One selection and it lost, meaning a loss of -1pt for the day


Overall a very pleasing weekend on both fronts. Its great to finally get back into profit. It has taken longer than we had hoped after a horrible October for horses and a horrible November for football! Just goes to show though that thinking long term is key, as we always say. We didn't panic or worry when things were not going great, like we wont get carried away and complacent in winning.

13:30 Lingfield - 'Final Drive' at 11/2 gen, 6/1 bet365. The 11/2 is very good value for a horse of this calibre, but we suspect more 6/1 will be popping up at a few places. If you were to take the 11/2 make sure it is BOG.

A very good weekend for the football, results and P&L figures will follow tonight's game - let's hope Liverpool can step their performance up.

Again, snow affecting Lingfield so we only have one track to work with - Wolverhampton. There is however one bet, with the very unlikely possibility that there will be more.

16:45 Wolverhampton - 'Final Drive' at 4/1 gen. 9/2 Ladbrokes (this price could potentially come out nearer the off, wouldn't be surprised if we saw over 6 on BF at some stage, however 4/1 is still excellent value for a top rated horse IMO).

Apologies for the late post today - pretty hectic with the weather! Yesterday was a profitable day with final drive winning with an SP of 7/2. Face the future was a non-runner, so we had a profit of +1.5pts.

Today there is only one horse that is a bet for us (providing the weather holds up at Kempton)

17:00 Kempton - 'Hidden Destiny' at 5/1 gen. This horse could come back out a bit as it has dropped from 8/1 earlier this morning to where it is now. Still, 5/1 is very decent value but we advise get it at BOG.
