Ranges x2
St Mirren x2
Twente
Wigan x2

Very best of luck, we will need it!

Results Catch-up

A lot to get through for sure!

21st March
Citrus Mark went off quite well backed, but despite running close, weakened = -1pt
Manomine WON, staying on well @ 9/2 = +4.5pts
Running Mate WON @ adv 13/2, going off 10/3f after a huge gamble, driven on to win = +6.5pts
Septos was also backed in the betting, but was a bit one paced and came 3rd as the 2pter = -2pts
Springfield Raki looked to be going close, but when switched, he weakened = -1pt
Tom O'Tara also had market support, but a mistake at the 5th causing the horse to weaken = -1pt

So two winners equalling a nice +6pts profit on the day. Also what was promising was being on the right side of prices once more.

22nd March
Greenhead High was going well, but weakened badly = -1pt
Relax didn't run well, but still managed 2nd = -1pt
Finch Flyer never got into things = -1pt
Dutch Diamond stayed on one pace, coming 3rd = -1pt
Lady Macduff WON, running on well = +5pts

So another day of profit, albeit small with +1pt registered.

23rd March:
Aimigayle drifted a touch, but still managed 3rd, even though there was no impression with the winner = -1pt
Noble Witness pulled up = -1pt
Alba King WON well, by 9 lengths @ 13/8 = +1.625

So another winner, but no enough to have a profitable day, but the regularity of winners is nice = -0.3.75pts

24th March
Bene Lad 2nd, but just didn't have enough = -1pt
Callisto Moon was weak in the betting, and justified the drift by weakened badly = -1pt
Golden Call WON very well, always staying prominent and having plenty in the tank to pull well clear, winning by 9 lengths @ adv 8/1, going off 5/1 = +8pts
Pale Orchid couldn't make too much impression finishing back in 4th as the 2pt bet = -2pts
George Guru WON @ 7/4 despite running wide = +1.75pts
Time To Think went off 15/2 - 11/2 but had nothing more to give late on = -1pt

So two winners, one at a nice price and the upward curve continues with +4.75pts added back to the total.

25th March
Five Out Of Five was a faller = -1pt
Daneva 2nd, but didn't really threaten being a bit off the pace = -1pt
Guess Again WON, timing the challenge well = +3pts

So, again, a winner, and a profit, even if it was small = +1pt

26th March
Mossman Gorge drifted like a barge from 8s - 16s, but did lead late on, but could only manage 3rd after the jockey dropped the whip, which looked to allow the horse to come of the pace, and maybe cost us a big winner = -1pt
Phar Again 2nd, but just one paced = -1pt
Counting House 3rd, but never quite challenging at the top end = -1pt
Crystal Prince pulled up = -1pt
Emman Bee WON, put up at 10/1, was subject to huge gamble, going off 7/2f, and just staying on to land a nice winner for us :) = +10pts

So Emman Bee landed a big gamble, and we were a tad unlucky with Mossman Gorge at 16s too, so while +6pts is decent enough, it could have been more!

27th March
Scotsbrook Cloud just didn't have enough, for another losing 2pt bet = -2pts
Barrison raced keenly, but well beaten in the end. Also drifted in the market = -1pt
Juno The Muffinman WON by 10l, going offs odds on from adv 11/8. Always in command = +1.375

So a losing day with the one winner's price being short = -1.625pts

28th March
Esteem always at the back = -1pt
Up To The Mark WON, from 9/4 - 13/8f, staying on well to hold on = +2.25pts
Invigilator never looked right = -1pt
Spinning Ridge WON @ adv 11/2, going off at 11/4. Took a while to get going, but kept on well to win = +5.5pts

So a good day, with a 50% SR, and +5.75pts added back to the total.

In summary, the last 8 days have been kind to us with 6 winning days. Including Cheltenham, this has been an ok few weeks, and hopefully this can continue, and get us back to a respectable level before the flat season begins.

Football:

21st March
Slavia Sofia was a loser, an early red card not helping things = -1pt

24th March
Finn Harps lost 1-0 = -1pt
Port Vale lost to arch-enemies Torquay, despite taking the lead, before a comeback from the 74th min from the penalty spot, which saw Port Vale go down to 10men. = -1pt
QPR were very poor away to Sunderland, even before Cisse's two footed lunge ended any hope = -1pt
Tottenham were a tad unfortunate not to come away with more than a 0-0 away to Chelsea = -1pt

Another blank weekend. At least there was no late heartbreak, but still, results are not up to scratch.

27th March
Alfreton won 1-2 away to Ebbsfleet = +2pts
Brentford won 1-3 away to Preston in a dominant performance = +1.625pts
Port Vale were losing, until their game with Shrewsbury was abandoned. = 0pts

So a winning night at last, with 3.25pts added to the total. Still, a long way to go for any respectability to be restored.

That concludes things - stay positive, and stay lucky!

One more for Thurs

4.50 Newcastle - Rolecarr @ 3/1 for 1pt.

Thanks

Wednesday Bets

So yesterday was not good, and yet again, the 90+5 minute mark royally screwed over any decent profits. With the Pinn closing line circa 6.65, that would have been a real nice result with Walsall, but nope. I can not bring myself to check back through the season on how many late goals have cost us, but the swing must be near 50pts now, nothing short of total bemusement and shock. At least we got one over on Torquay, but that is no consolation.

Right a new day (but how many times have I said that, so let us hope for a change in fortune,) and a busy one to boot. We also have one football bet which goes off this afternoon at 13.30. Sorry for the late notice on this.

Horses:

Hereford:
5.15 Citrus Mark @ 7/1

Kempton:
5.55 Manomine @ 9/2
7.55 Running Mate @ 13/2

Warwick:
3.30 Septos (2pt bet) @ 5/1

Haydock:
2.10 Springfield Raki @ 7/1
3.50 Tom O'tara @ 8/1

Football Bet:
Slavia Sofia (Bulgaria 1)
Advice is 1/2pt win bet
1/4pt on the draw
1/4pt on Slavia +1 Asian Line

Very best of luck

Cheltenham Summary

Thought I would do this briefly.

The Festival was decent to us, and we made it 3 profitable days out of 4, picking 4 winners :)

Day 1

Monday started positively, with Cinders And Ashes locking us in profit from the very first race. Unfortunately that was it, and the day was tinged with sadness over 3 fatalities, including one of out selections, Garde Champetre.

1W - 4L (Win)
0W - 1L (Place)
Win Points = +6pts
Place Points = -1pt
+5pts on the day

Day 2

Tuesday was a really good day, and we nearly came close to recording a hat-trick of winners, but Kazlian couldn't stay on up the hill. Simonsig was a good winner, perhaps a touch fortunate Cotton Mill refused as he looked the only real threat, whilest Finians Rainbow, in some eyes got the fortune with the confusion surrounding whether the last fence was to be jumped.

2W - 1L (Win)
1W - 0L (Place)
Win Points = +6.75pts
Place Points = +1.25pts
+8pts on the day

Day 3

Was the bad one! We had a decent 2pt bet in Holmwood Legend, and 6 other bets, none converting. Oscar Whisky was outclassed by Big Bucks, Buena Vista had strong market support, and that was about it on the positives!

0W - 7L (Win)
0W - 2L (Place)
Win Points = -8pts
Place Points = -2pts
-10pts on the day

Day 4

Again, we were rescued by Synchronised in the feature of the Festival. Sure, some are doubting the quality of the standard of the renewal, but they still are considering the best horses in that class. There was no doubting the excitement of the race, as it looked like a few could triumph. The rest was not great, with a couple not running as expected, as two didn't finish.

1W - 4L (Win)
0W - 0L (Place)
Win Points = +5pts
Place Points = 0
+5pts on the day.

Overall, it was a good Festival to us with 4 Winners, and another selection also converting on the place money. The idea to put up a few selections were simply because of human intervention, and I felt that there was enough reasonably justification to bet some of the bigger priced selections like this - enhanced place terms, or in the case of Finian's Rainbow, a flat 8 runners.

We recorded +8pts over the 4 days, unfortunately the 3rd day did prove to be a blow.

The figures are as such:
24 points staked (win and place)
+8pts profit
Strike rate = 20.83%
Return on investment = 33.33%

Results Update

Cheltenham Day 4 - Friday 16th March.

Urbain De Sivola pulled up =-1pt
Mount Benbulben weakened = -1pt
Bourne disappointed up the hill = -1pt
Lucky William unseated rider = -1pt
Synchronised won the Gold Cup, after what was a splendid performance by AP McCoy on board. It was a shame Kauto was pulled up, but in terms of our pockets, a needed win = +9pts

Other:
Ben's Folly was well backed into 4/7f but blundered the last and it proved costly, coming 2nd = -1pt
Crafty Roberto also came 2nd, but just short after chasing down the winner well = -1pt
Fugitive Motel was also well backed into 5/4f but faded very late on = -1pt

So, despite the winner in the big race of the day, we just record a 2pt profit on the day. Again frustrating, we were on the right side of some decent gambles, but they didn't go our way, with two seconds too.

Saturday 17th March

Pesnett Bay 2nd, and probably the poor start was costly = -1pt
Problema Tic won, again well backed into 2/1 SP, so the 5/2 proved to be good = +2.5pts

So another winner (and another second) but again, only a small profit, but a profit nonetheless = +1.5pts

Sunday 18th March

She's On The Case pulled up = -1pt
Sustainability won, holding on well. Small drift to SP 4/5 = +0.8pts

So, again, positive we found another winner, but with the prices concerned a small losing day = -0.2pts

Monday 19th March

Cockney Sparrow won, finding the extra when required = +4pts
Santadelacruze weakened, in the same race = -1pt

So a small positive again with +3pts

Tuesday 20th March

Newport Arch came 2nd, trading 1.21 on Betfair for a decent chunk IR but still got beat = -1pt

A frustrating outcome for sure, = -1pt

So again, small profit on the period discussed, which is certainly better than losing, but one still feels we can do better. Cheltenham was good to us, and fortunately we have done ok over the weekend. Let us hope we can continue with this, and get back up into the profits.

Football:

Burnley gave Cardiff a decent enough game, but it finished 0-0 = -1pt
Burton started sloppy and found themselves 2 down early on. The result finished 1-4 to our biggest enemies this season, Torquay, who were just much more clinical, converting 75% of their shots on target. = -2pts
Ergotelis won 1-0 = +1.078pts
Tranmere gave a good account for themselves away at promotion-chasing Sheff Utd, but despite favourable stats, couldn't get a positive result for us. -2pts

So again, a negative weekend, and while there were no late gubbings, we probably balanced one more winner on the face of it. = -3.922pts

Let us hope tonight's footy doesn't go the same way as the horse selection did today...

Saturday Horses & Football

What a fantastic Gold Cup yesterday. At one point I lost all hope as it looked like Long Run was cruising, however Synchronised is arguably the best stayer in the game and what a fantastic run to land AP his second Gold Cup. A real shame about Kauto pulling up but everyone connected to him have nothing to be disappointed about, he is unquestionably the greatest and I'm sure everyone will remember him for a long time.

Despite so many races today, we only have two selections.

5:00 Uttox - Pensnett Bay @ 5/1

2:15 Kemp - Problema Tic @ 5/2

Football

Burnley
Burton x 2
Ergotelis (greece 1)
Tranmere x 2

Quiet day on the football, hope that means a good SR!

Good luck today

Final bet

I think it is quite a fitting way that our final bet of the day is on the Gold Cup. Unfortunately for most of the public, we are against the top two.

SYNCHRONISED @ 9/1

Good luck!

Update

One more bet for now:

2:30 Lingfield - Fugitive Motel 2/1

Any more and I will update.

Cheltenham Festival Final Day

So, the final day of Cheltenham Festival is upon us. It has been a fantastic festival, with numerous records broken and some magical racing. I think the icing on the cake would be to see Kauto Star win the Gold Cup for the third time. I'm sure it will be a magnificent race and I, alongside the majority of racing lovers, will be rooting for him. Anyway, back to business. We have some decent priced selections so far, and there is a possibility of a few more, just checking over a few more things.

Cheltenham

1:30 Urbain De Sivola - 16/1
2:40 Mount Benbulben - 17/2
4:40 Bourne - 5/1
5:15 Lucky William - 16/1

Fakenham

2:55 Ben's Folly 5/6
4:55 Crafy Roberto 8/1

Good luck, hoping we can recuperate some of those losses from yesterday! I will update shortly if there are more bets.

Day 3 Results

So a bit of bump back to earth unfortunately. Our busiest day of the Festival was also our biggest blank for a while, and it is mightily disappointing. While it is nice to have winners at Cheltenham, on the biggest stage, it still shouldn't detract that we run a system that produces bets every day, and for most tracks. While we were having winners at the Festival, we haven't elsewhere, and that is bordering on becoming a serious worry.

Cheltenham does seem to do things to horses, write scripts, play out dreams, and sometimes you can get the feeling horses/jockeys/trainers always give much more here than probably one expected. This does not quite play out in regimented systems too well I wouldn't have thought, but either way, competitive racing is what we want and love.

Cheltenham:
Solix never really got into it = -1pt
Buena Vista had decent support, and did look to be a front runner, until weakening = -1pt
Great Endeavour shared the lead in stages but well beaten in the end = -1pt
Oscar Whisky was expected to give Big Bucks a real run for his money, and with the Nicholls yard struggling for form, doubts were raised whether Big Bucks could retain his crown. He did in tremendous style, surely ending any doubts about his status, and winning 16 consecutive races. Incredible stuff. On his day, OW was no match = -1pt
Holmwood Legend finished back in 6th, just having nothing more coming home = -2pts
Gansey came 9th, and was always held up, before never really exerting = -2pts
Fine Parchment pulled up = -2pts

The Rest:
Malin Head pulled up, along with 6 other runners, and only 4 finishing from 12 runners = -1pt
Soul Angel 3rd, but was outpaced = -1pt
Alhaban traded 1.5 in-running, after being well backed, but could only manage 2nd by a neck = -1pt

So today was not our today, although we did go close away from Cheltenham. Frustrating, and a horrid -13pts on the day, a real set-back.

Cheltenham Day 3 - The Rest, Part II

Sorry for the staggered posts today but this concludes the bets.

Cheltenham
1.30 Solix @ 8/1
2.40 Great Endeavour @ 12/1
3.20 Oscar Whisky @ 9/2 (or you may consider the PP money-back-special if he comes 2nd to Big Bucks)
4.00 Fine Parchment - Advice is 1pt EW @ 25/1 with Bet365 for their 5 places.

Wolves
7.45 Alhaban @ 7/1

All 1pt bets - very best of luck, a very busy day!

Cheltenham Day 3 - The Rest

Cheltenham
2.05 Buena Vista @ 8/1

Towcester:
2.30 Malin Head @ 13/2

Hexham
4.55 Soul Angel @ 5/1

All 1pt bets - very best of luck

Cheltenham Day 3

Morning! Hoping for 3/3 winning days at the Festival, would be very nice. This is a short post with a 2pt bet and a larger priced outsider. The rest will follow.

Cheltenham
4.00 Holmwood Legend @ 14/1 (2pt bet)
4.00 Gansey 1pt EW @ 40/1 - Advice is to get the 5 places with Bet365.

Back shortly.

Cheltenham Results Day 2

So another profit recording, with two nice winners at Cheltenham.

Simonsig looked to be locked in a duel with Cotton Mill, who then refused to jump the second last, and left Simonsig clear to win = +2.75pts
Finian's Rainbow won the Queen Mother, edging out hotly fancied Sizing Europe. What looked to be building up to classic run was tainted by indecision over whether the last fence was to be jumped, but the diversion around the fence fortunately fell our way, and FR stayed on well. = +6.25pts
Kazlian unfortunately left too little in the tank, after pulling well clear about 3 out and all the money was for a comfortable win. But he was caught up the hill, and finished back in 4th. =-1pt
Kipchak just a bit one paced = -1pt
Mambo Spirit never really got going = -1pt
Performing Pocket one paced = -1pt

So disappointing elsewhere, but still, two more winners, and profit registered. Let us hope we can continue. +5pts for the day.

Cheltenham Festival Day Two

Afternoon all, certainly hoping to build on the small steps of yesterday. I hope you all utilised your free bet well too if you backed Cinders And Ashes @ Bet365 with their 4/1 offer.

Today:

Cheltenham:
2.05 Simonsig @ 11/4
3.20 Finian's Rainbow @ 5/1 EW - With the flat 8 runners, this is a must. 1pt EW advised.
4.40 Kazlian @ 7/1

Southwell:
3.05 Kipchak @ 9/2

Kempton:
7.20 Mambo Spirit @ 13/2
9.20 Performing Pocket @ 4/1

All for 1pt - very best of luck!

Cheltenham Day 1 Results + Football

Bloody hell, a winning day!

Cinders And Ashes triumphed in the Supreme Novices Hurdle, staying on well up the hill = +10pts
Hazy Tom couldn't ever find much room, and was a bit off the pace = -2pts
Mossley pulled up = -1pt
Garde Champetre pulled up early on = -1pt
Bless The Wings never really got going = -1pt
Terrie Express weakened = -1pt
River Rhapsody went of fav, but never got going, finishing well last = -1pt

So with a winner in the first race of the Festival was a great way to kick things off, but unfortunately we couldn't manage another winner which would have been very nice (and helpful!) That said, Wizardbet's condolences go out to the connections of Garde Champetre, Educated Evans and Scotsirish who all died after suffering injuries whilst running today. This is truly the horrible face of racing. I am not privy to the ins and outs as to the ground being at fault, that it can't be watered and so on, but the authorities have to be 100% that a race can go ahead in only the safest conditions.
We recorded +3pts on the day.

Football:
And another late goal! But at least one went for us this time! This however, still needs to happen several more times before we feel it levels itself out.

Cambridge edged out Barrow in a close fought encounter 1-0, with 87th min strike = +1.13pts
Rotherham battered Torquay, with 17 shots (and 12 on target.) That is the 4th game running they have cost us money = -2pts
Tranmere fought back from 1 nil down to win 2-1 against Preston, who took the lead with their only shot on target. = +2.1

So a small, but still welcome +1.23pts profit on the night.

We will be back tomorrow with more horses. Hope you enjoyed today, and managed to make some money. It is only very small steps, so let us not get carried away, because who knows what is round the corner tomorrow. Thanks all

Cheltenham Festival - Day One

Fingers crossed we can not only enjoy the Festival, but make some money from it too....

Cheltenham:
1.30 Cinders And Ashes @ 10/1
1.30 Hazy Tom @ 50/1 = Advice is 1pt EW with Bet365, who are paying 4 places.
2.40 Mossley @ 18/1
4.00 Garde Champetre @ 11/1
5.15 Bless The Wings @ 7/1

Sedgefield:
4.15 Teerie Express @ 5/1
4.55 River Rhapsody @ 11/4

Very best of luck if you follow today!

Midweek Football + Monday Results

Results:
Ah, and another blank day on the racing, which was certainly most frustrating.

Early Applause couldn't really get in to it = -1pt
Aviso unseated rider = -1pt
Ready Or Not 2nd as our 2pt bet by a short head. Ran on very well late on, but just pipped = -2pts
Quarton also unseated rider = -1pt
Ballyvoneen 2nd, again just a little late with the push = -1pt

So two that didn't finish, and 2 close seconds. When it doesn't go your way, it doesn't go your way. -6pts certainly feels harsh.

Weekend Results - A Right Old Disaster

Horses:
Not a pretty few days, and to be honest, I am looking forward to Cheltenham, but not to the rest of the NH season unfortunately. Bring on the flat :)

Wednesday 7th March:
Noble Scholar fell = -1pt
Plunkett drifted in the betting, going off 11/1 but came 2nd = -1pt
Meet Me At Dawn pulled up = -1pt
Delganey Gunner fell = -1pt

So three selections did not finish the race, and the one that did came home 2nd at a decent price. Still, -4pts on the day.

Thursday 8th March:
Brixen ran an error-ridden run = -1pt
Ezra Church, a 3pt winner not so long ago could only manage 3rd this time out, just missing out = -1pt
Transact never really threatened as the 2pt bet = -2pts

Again, a blank day of -4pts

Friday 9th March:
The Disengager was a NR
Tarquinius was well backed into 6/4f, but beaten well after mistakes = -1pt
Might As Well, also made a mistake late on, which seemingly put paid to a challenge = -1pt
See The Legend couldn't match the winner = -1pt
Shooting Times pulled up, and never looked quite right during the race = -1pt
Red Harbour 2nd, going off a well backed 9/4f, but just couldn't catch the 25/1 winner = -1pt

-5pts, and again, on the right side of a couple of decent gambles, which just didn't pay off

Saturday 10th March:
Night Lily 4th, but not by much, just couldn't find the extra = -1pt
Adranian was bumped during the race, and was leading, but just tailed off = -1pt
Notabotheronme 4th, did lead, and started well. An error 4 out slowed him down = -1pt
Daaloob, nicely backed, but weakened late on = -1pt
Plein Pouvoir 2nd by a length = -1pt
Rimini pulled up = -1pt
Sammy Spiderman just a bit one paced = -1pt
Speed Master 4th, looked to be forming a real challenge, but weakened = -1pt

A very disappointing day of -8pts, and not at a lot one can say really.

Sunday 11th March:
Babysitter never went well enough = -1pt
Border Reiver one paced = -1pt

Fortunately just two selections, so it was only another 2pts lost!

Summary:
So from Wednesday to Sunday we have chucked away 23pts, and it really is not acceptable. Not quite sure what to say, but this is pretty much near a 50pt plus draw-down from the high of Year Two. It is also going to be the second NH season we have struggled to really make continued profits, which is not really good enough.

Football:
Unfortunately, I am going to claim that I 'called it'. That being another late equaliser costing us big. We need to look on the face of it. A lot of the selections were at rather large prices, so there was a chance the weekend could have gone as it did. The closing lines on some were big; Bournemouth 4.75, Hereford 4.00, Rochdale 7.00 and WBA 11.00. I think the 8 game odds combined just before the off paid close to 70000/1 so that does explain the odds we were up against. Either way, there was (another) late loss which would have made the weekend into a bearable loss, had they held on, but now, the weekend becomes a real bad one. Bristol Rovers, as a 1.5pt lead 2-0 away at Torquay, before a fine double save from the Rovers keeper went without reward as Torquay bundled the ball in at the 3rd attempt, 20mins from time. Rovers then spurned a great chance to probably put the game to bed, but it was squandered, before a simple ball over the top of the defence was flicked in, in the 90th min to rescue a draw for Torquay, and cost us big. At a closing line of 4.00, the swing from recording +4.5pts profit on the game, to -1.5pts is tough to take. Burnley also squandered a lead, whilst plucky Hereford did hold on for us.

Blackpool lost 3-1 = -1pt
Bournemouth went down 3-0 after 3 real early goals = -1pt
Bristol Rovers drew 2-2 = -1.5pts
Burnley drew 1-1 = -1.5pts
Hereford won 0-1 away to Morecambe = +3pts
Rochdale put up an impressive rearguard display drawing 2-2 away to high-flyers Huddersfield, but they couldn't find a winner = -1.5pts
Scunthorpe drew 0-0, despite recording 18shots, 10 on target as the 2pt bet = -2pts
WBA were easily put aside by Man U = -1pt

So our selections performed ok in terms of results, but just couldn't convert the draws into wins. -6.5pts is the weekends loss. Admittedly there is a time when all this 'luck' keeps going against you, one has to wonder whether it is still just 'luck' playing a role.

One day to go...

Right, a dreadful weekend on all fronts, and the results will be concluded shortly.

Today - we remain optimistic, and with Cheltenham starting tomorrow, we can hope for some good results this week. A busy day to start us off though, how good would it be to have a nice winning day today to start us of buoyant tomorrow!

Stratford:
2.10 Early Applause @ 7/1
4.10 Aviso @ 8/1

Taunton:
3.20 Ready Or Not (2pt bet) @ 9/2
3.50 Quarton @ 11/1

Plumpton:
5.00 Ballyvoneen @ 13/2

So a 2pt bet, and some nice enough prices about today. Staying hopeful. Good luck

Sunday

Don't want to talk about Bristol Rovers yesterday, fed up with late gubbings. Only two horses today:

3:20 Market Rasen - Babysitter @ 7/4

5:25 Market Rasen - Border Reiver @ 7/2

Good luck!

Saturday - Horses + Football Bets

Right, a big day and plenty to get stuck into.

Horses:

Wolves:
2.20 Night Lily @ 7/1
2.55 Adranian @ 15/2

Chepstow:
1.55 Notabotheronme @ 10/1
4.15 Daaloob @ 9/2
4.50 Plein Pouvoir @ 5/2
4.50 Rimini @ 11/2

Ayr:
3.25 Sammy Spiderman @ 4/1

All are 1pt bets.

Football:

Blackpool
Bournemouth
Bristol Rovers x1.5
Burnley x1.5

So which one is going to get chinned late on? If it is WBA, at that price, we may as well all give in! Let us hope for a good weekend :)

All for 1pt. Time for a nice winner :)

Tuesday Results

A reoccurring theme anyone?

Horses:
Tulia De Gravelle pulled up = -1pt
Stormy Morning held up early, but a mistake put an end to his run as he weakened = -1pt
Colour Guard WON @ advised 2/1 with plenty in the tank = +2pts
Lindoro was backed well but weakened after a decent start = -1pt

So one winner, but unfortunately not enough to register a profit on the day, with -1pt.

Football:
Not sure whether to laugh or cry, but for those following, it must be bordering on the former now. One can only hope this is variance of its harshest form. We must be bordering on missing out on 30pts because of last-minute goals and teams losing decent leads. Last night it was Oxford's turn.

Aldershot lost 1-0 away to Torquay in a tight game = -1.5pts
Barnet lost 3-1 away to Gillingham, despite take the lead, although on the balance of play, a fair result = -1pt
Hartlepool lost 1-0 away to Huddersfield, and can have no complaints = -1.5pts
Oxford drew 2-2 away at Shrewsbury, throwing away a 2 goal margin at HT. Oxford also hit the bar which would have made it 3-0. The equaliser came in the 90th minute, described as a 'dramatic 35 yard strike' by the BBC Sport site. At circa odds of 3/1, a huge blow. = -1pt
Rotherham drew 1-1 at home to Crewe, but probably edged it = -1.5pts

So a bad night, quickly hot on the heels of a bad weekend. Although Oxford holding would have not have turned a profit, it would have seriously reduced the loss, likewise Burnley at the weekend. I keep saying it will turn, but now we need to see that in practice! -6.5pts on the night

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

Midweek Football

Aldershot x 1.5
Barnet
Hartlepool x 1.5
Oxford
Rotherham x 1.5

Very best of luck if you bet tonight

Tuesday Action

Four bets today, very best of luck if you get involved:

Exeter:
2.30 Tulia De Gravelle @ 5/1

Newcastle:
2.50 Stormy Morning @ 7/2

Southwell:
4.40 Colour Guard @ 2/1
5.10 Lindoro @ 13/2

All 1pt bets - best of luck!

Results Update

March 1st:
Availed Speaker was well backed into 13/8f, but could only manage 2nd = -1pt
Theatre Diva finished 3rd = -1pt

So both close, but no cigar = -2pts

March 2nd:
Marodima also well backed into 11/4 SP, and led for a decent period of the race, but just couldn't maintain the pace, coming 3rd = -1pt
Cyflymder WON at advised 7/2, making all, and holding on well = +3.5pts
Midnight Sail 2nd by a length = -1pt
My Mate Les caught up early on, but soon found a chance to make a run. Just not enough, 4th = -1pt

So at least a winner, but the three other selections came close again. = +0.5pts

March 3rd:
Into Wain, drifted well out to 13/2 SP and struggled = -1pt
Ballabriggs ran an error-riddled race = -1pt
Ebanour was backed, but could only manage 3rd after weakening = -1pt
George Guru 2nd by a length after a strong finish, but had just left too much to do = -1pt
Priestley's Reward drifted in the betting, and never got going = -1pt
Ultimate WON @ 4/1, pulling clear well in the last furlong = +4pts

So just the one winner, and a couple more close with places, but -1pt on the day

March 4th:
My Faithful Annie also had support in the betting, but was no match for the winner = -1pt
Castle Rock, advised 10/1, went off 4/1, albeit with a 20p rule 4 applied. Looked to be going well, but weakened = -1pt
Tipsy Indian 2nd staying close throughout, before being outpaced = -1pt

So a blank day again, although with the prices of the selections it isn't too disheartening, especially seeing are two big priced selections having strong support = -3pts

March 5th:
First Rebellion one paced throughout = -1pt
Captain Cardigan was hampered early on, and always struggling at the back = -1pt

Nothing much to take from the days performances = -2pt

So again, nothing great from the horse-racing selections it has to be said, even if we were close on a couple of occasions. On the whole we have been on the right side of the price, which is reassuring.

Football:
So, it was always going to be a case of which team would cost us a nice profit this weekend? After Braintree took the lead at big odds, I feared another late heart-break, but at least an equaliser came with plenty of time to spare. Instead, our eyes were on Burnley who conspired to throw a 2nd-half 2-goal lead.

Ado Den Haag couldn't find a breakthrough = -1pt
Aldershot won 1-0 = +1.36
Braintree drew 1-1 = -1pt
Burnley lost 3-2 (see above) and was at odds of circa 2/1 = -1pt
Colchester won well, 3-0 as a 2pt play = +2.2pts
Crawley lost 0-1 = -2pts
Mallorca drew 1-1 = -1pt
Tottenham somehow fell to a 1-3 defeat to Man Utd which was a strange old game = -1pt
Tranmere lost 1-0 = -1.5pts

So a negative weekend of -4.94pts, which is quite a blow, considering we had been doing ok recently, but two winners is not a good enough SR by all accounts.
