Results Update

March 1st:
Availed Speaker was well backed into 13/8f, but could only manage 2nd = -1pt
Theatre Diva finished 3rd = -1pt

So both close, but no cigar = -2pts

March 2nd:
Marodima also well backed into 11/4 SP, and led for a decent period of the race, but just couldn't maintain the pace, coming 3rd = -1pt
Cyflymder WON at advised 7/2, making all, and holding on well = +3.5pts
Midnight Sail 2nd by a length = -1pt
My Mate Les caught up early on, but soon found a chance to make a run. Just not enough, 4th = -1pt

So at least a winner, but the three other selections came close again. = +0.5pts

March 3rd:
Into Wain, drifted well out to 13/2 SP and struggled = -1pt
Ballabriggs ran an error-riddled race = -1pt
Ebanour was backed, but could only manage 3rd after weakening = -1pt
George Guru 2nd by a length after a strong finish, but had just left too much to do = -1pt
Priestley's Reward drifted in the betting, and never got going = -1pt
Ultimate WON @ 4/1, pulling clear well in the last furlong = +4pts

So just the one winner, and a couple more close with places, but -1pt on the day

March 4th:
My Faithful Annie also had support in the betting, but was no match for the winner = -1pt
Castle Rock, advised 10/1, went off 4/1, albeit with a 20p rule 4 applied. Looked to be going well, but weakened = -1pt
Tipsy Indian 2nd staying close throughout, before being outpaced = -1pt

So a blank day again, although with the prices of the selections it isn't too disheartening, especially seeing are two big priced selections having strong support = -3pts

March 5th:
First Rebellion one paced throughout = -1pt
Captain Cardigan was hampered early on, and always struggling at the back = -1pt

Nothing much to take from the days performances = -2pt

So again, nothing great from the horse-racing selections it has to be said, even if we were close on a couple of occasions. On the whole we have been on the right side of the price, which is reassuring.

Football:
So, it was always going to be a case of which team would cost us a nice profit this weekend? After Braintree took the lead at big odds, I feared another late heart-break, but at least an equaliser came with plenty of time to spare. Instead, our eyes were on Burnley who conspired to throw a 2nd-half 2-goal lead.

Ado Den Haag couldn't find a breakthrough = -1pt
Aldershot won 1-0 = +1.36
Braintree drew 1-1 = -1pt
Burnley lost 3-2 (see above) and was at odds of circa 2/1 = -1pt
Colchester won well, 3-0 as a 2pt play = +2.2pts
Crawley lost 0-1 = -2pts
Mallorca drew 1-1 = -1pt
Tottenham somehow fell to a 1-3 defeat to Man Utd which was a strange old game = -1pt
Tranmere lost 1-0 = -1.5pts

So a negative weekend of -4.94pts, which is quite a blow, considering we had been doing ok recently, but two winners is not a good enough SR by all accounts.
