Weekend Football

Again, a frustrating weekend, but at least a small profit recorded. The 2pt+ plays are performing so well right now, and it is keeping up going.

Aldershot won 3-1 as a 2.5pt play @ evens = +2.5pts
Cardiff drew 1-1 = -1pt
Millwall won 4-1 = +1.1pts
Portsmouth lost 3-1 = -1pt (did not reach 11/5 so was not a 2pt play)
Sunderland drew 2-2 = -1.5pts
Swindon drew 0-0 despite with a man advantage = -1pt
Watford won 3-2 in a first half classic vs P'boro = +1.6pts
Sedan won 3-1 (and I thought for a minute they would throw away a 2-0 lead) = +0.65pts
Cordoba lost 1-0 = -1pt

+0.35pts on the weekend.

Results Update

Football Results

Last set of football posts not to be recorded was from Friday 14th October, so here we go!

Friday Night Football 14th Oct:
Drogheda lost 1-4 @ home to Bray = -1pt
Lincoln did not qualify as a bet as the 12/5 was unattainable

-1pt for Friday

Saturday 15th:
Burnley lost 0-1 = -1pt
Cardiff drew 2-2 = -1pt
Gillingham won 2-5 as a 1.5pt bet = +3.26
Hull drew 0-0 = -1pt
Portsmouth won 2-0 @ evens = +1pt
QPR drew 1-1 = -1pt
Scunthorpe drew 0-0 despite having 10 men = -1pt
Tranmere won 1-0 = +1.04pts
Gaziantepspor drew 0-0 = -1pt
Anderlecht won 5-0 = +0.7pts
Helsingsborgs lost 0-2 = -1pt

So a marginal loss of -1.01pts

Midweek Football Tues 18th:
2 x 2pt bets
Millwall drew 1-1 = -2pts
Newport won 3-1 = +1.62pts

So a small loss of -0.38pts

Saturday 22nd Oct Football:
Wolves drew 2-2 = -1pt
Arsenal won 3-1 = +0.66pts
Inverness drew 1-1 as the 2pt bet with a late pen costing us = -2pts
Macclesfield won 0-1 = +2.42pts
Middlesborough won 2-0 = +0.73pts
Nice lost 1-0 = -1pt
Southend won 4-1 = +0.78pts
Djugardens drew 1-1 = -1pt

Another small loss of -0.41pts

Midweek football Tues 25th Oct:
Accrington lost 1-0 = -1pt
Cheltenham lost 0-1 = -1.5pts
MK Dons lost 2-1 = -1.5pts
Rochdale drew 1-1 = -1.5pts
Tranmere won 0-2 as the 2pt bet = +3.72pts

So another losing night, even if the 2pt bets keep up their good record. -1.78pts

We have to keep plugging along with the footy, but it is frustrating nonetheless. Let us hope the tide is turning. If you look around, a lot of rating systems are struggling right now, and that is how we sort of generate football bets. We ask ourselves a lot of questions, especially because last year was quite poor compared to previous years. One to keep an eye on.

Horse Racing Results

Embarrassingly enough, the last time results were completed and updated was 2 weeks ago. Here we go to rectify this! The last time the results were recorded was for the action dated 13th Oct.

Horse Racing:

Friday 14th:

Dean's Grange 2nd but by 12 lengths = -1pt

Mount Hollow 2nd, running on well late on, but left a little too much = -1pt

Monday 17th:
One bet - Eightfold who was last, and never looked right = -1pt

Tuesday 18th:
Callisto Moon never had the pace and blundered several times = -1pt
My Brother Sylvest WON despite drifting to 13/8, making all and winning well by 31 lengths = +1.625pts

Princely Hero, chased well but a mistake proved costly = -1pt
Sadlers Star one paced throughout = -1pt

Not great = -2.5pts

Thursday 20th:
Another day of several selections
Penang Cinta looked good, but one paced = -1pt
Aviso always in contention, but unpaced 2 out = -1pt
Amir Pasha never threatening = -1pt
Ring Bo Ree pulled up = -1pt
Jauntry Journey nearly unseated rider and loose run throughout = -1pt
Tiger O Toole fell = -1pt
Vimiero decent start, looked good, but hampered 1 out and tailed off = -1pt
Fleetwoodsands was backed into 14/1 from 25/1, and led until 2f out, but weakened when mattered = -1pt
Sinadinou held up and bunched up, never got into a stride capable of winning = -1pt

A bad day, with a lot of runs fading off = -9pts

Friday 21st:

Helpston was a NR
Pinotage was 3rd as the 2pt bet. Held up, and ran on well in the last but couldn't quite reach leaders = -2pts
Belle Park WON @ adv 8/1, rescuing the day! Held up, but found the gap and pulled clear. Just held on winning by a neck = +8pts

+4pts on the day, but disappointing run on the 2pt bets goes on.

Saturday 22nd:
Ballesteros held up and always in the rear = -1pt
Holiday Reading had a decent start, led till around half way but weakened = -1pt
Kack Handed 3rd, took an early lead but a few mistakes hindered and no extra was found under pressure = -1pt
Nomecheki 2nd, always chasing but always outpaced by winner = -1pt
Edgardo Sol WON @ SP 7/1, always in contention, a couple of mistakes but ran well and jumped well late on, running on gamely to win by a neck = +7pts
Ackertac pulled up = -1pt

+2pts on the day.

Sunday 23rd:
A 3pt bet for the first time in a while, which lost :(
Gullible Gordon ran from the front, but one paced = -1pt
Gloran Jack 2nd, but way back = -1pt
Saint Are 2nd as the 3pt bet, did lead, and looked threatening , but held off = -3pts
Takeroc WON @ adv 6/1 getting smashed into 11/4 f. Stayed on well and pulled well clear to win by 12l = +6pts

Just +1pt profit on the day with Saint Are failing :(

Monday 24th:
Hit The Switch 3rd but one paced = -1pt
Baileys Agincourt never got into it = -1pt
Zaeem 2nd by a neck, just lacking a little more = -1pt

-3pts on the day

Tuesday 25th:
Daymar Bay weakened badly = -1pt
Calico Rose had every chance until a mistake on the last = -1pt
Rileyev always chasing, but always behind = -1pt
Mohawk Ridge 2nd but by 13l = -1pt
Bold Chief one paced = -1pt

-5pts on the day

Wednesday 26th:
Just the one bet
Celestial Dawn weakened despite a promising start = -1pt

Thursday 27th:
Bay Central didnt have enough = -1pt
Green Du Ciel disputed the lead but faded off = -1pt
Kappelhoff struggled and tailed off, finishing miles back = -1pt
Medal Of Valour led, but lost place 8 out and came last = -1pt
Rio Royale WON @ 7/1, chased early on, but ran clear inside final furlong = +7pts
Fascinating WON convincingly at adv Even money = +1pt
Vhujon held up, but stayed on, despite having no impression = -1pt

+3pts on the day.

So that brings us up to speed on horse racing, and it sort of feels like we have ticked over slowly, with not really too much happening. I guess considering the October we had last year, this is an improvement, but still over the period discussed we have lost -9.375pts (which can all be related to that one real bad day.) It isn't a disaster, as October is known to come with extra variables with being the end of the flat and start of the NH season. We just hope that in hitting November we can hit some decent form soon enough and start ramping up the profit, fingers crossed!

Friday Night football

Drogheda is a 1pt bet
Lincoln is a 1pt bet ONLY if you can get 12/5 or better.

Both play tonight

Best of luck

Thursday Results

A decent enough day with 2 winners from the 6 bets advised, but frustrating the 2pt bet couldn't come in too.

Bathwick Scanno 3rd (which was last) = -1pt
El Diego 2nd by a neck, pressed hard = -1pt
Mr Demister WON (beat El Diego) staying on well @ 12/1 = +12pts
Penang Cinta WON despite drifting won advised 7/1 to 10/1 always in contention and pulling clear to win = +10pts
Golden Dream led early on, but and error saw him weaken. Advised 6/1 and went off 3/1f = -2pts
Alshazah in touch throughout, but no extra in the final furlong = -1pt

So a very nice +17pts recorded for the day, and from 2 winners is quite nice, has seemed like we have had a quite long time in just 'ticking along.' Always nice to have the big days though!

Friday

A very quiet day for us - there were a few shorties on our radar but prices are too skinny and have ruled out a few on that basis. As it turns out, the 1 bet is at decent odds.

Yesterday was a good day on the whole, with 2 decent priced winners. Unfortunately our 2pt bet Golden Dream failed, although was backed heavily into favouritsm.

Results Update

Tuesday:

Jack My Boy = -1pt
The Mongoose = -1pt

Both failing to threaten much unfortunately. = -2pts

Wednesday:

Cravat WON as the 2pt bet @ advised 7/2 in a convincing run = +7pts
Wayne Manor held up, and tailed off = -1pt
Serious Choice never got going = -1pt
Safe Investment was anything but = -1pt
Specific started well, but weakened badly = -1pt

So, nice for the 2pt bets to come back and win, but the others did not offer much at all. +3pts for the day.

Football:
Apologies Newport was a late bet, but it was certainly worth it! Unfortunately Stockport couldn't make it 3/3.

Grimsby won 5-2, as a 2pt bet, with a late show 15mins before time, despite giving away a goal lead twice. +1.74pts
Stockport lost 3-4, in a real match of twists and turns. Going a goal down early on, was cancelled out, with Stockport equalising and then taking the lead, before 2-2 at half time. Stockport then regained the advantage, but another equaliser and an awesome late strike saw Darlington take the points = -1pt
Newport won 1-4 away at Fleetwood, to cap a very good night. Going down to an early goal, they retaliated with 3 goals before the interval. A 4th midway in the 2nd half put the result to bed. 11/2 was available at the whiff books (fred, tote and stan) so will settle at 5/1. +5pts

I know I moan about harsh luck when it goes against us, and while I don't feel we were overly fortunate tonight, it is nice when the games you were involved in see two hat-tricks. (Sam Foley for Newport and Liam Hearne for Grimsby.)

Football profit sees a 5-0 record on the 2pt football bets now, and overall a 5.74pts profit on last night.

Wednesday

Well that was a bit better. Our 2pt bet won (let us ignore the rest of the racing for now, as a profit was recorded) and 2/3 football landed. Grimsby, our 2pt bet won 5-2 and Newport thumped Fleetwood away 1-4 to land at a large price.

Today:

Horse Racing Results

Unlike the football where we can feel unlucky, the horse selections did not really perform that great at all.

Friday:
Circumvent 4th as the 2pt bet. Backed into 9/2f (from adv 8/1) and whilst always in contention, just lacked that final ability to push on. The poor run on the 2pt bets continues = -2pts
Blades Lad 3rd, also just lacked the extra required =-1pt
King Of The Night WON. Drifted to 7/2 SP but won well by 5 lengths = +3.5pts
Storm Surge never looked right during the run = -1pt
High Jack looked to be running well, but weakened = -1pt
Dream Of Fortune held up, and never really threatened = -1pt

-2.5pts

Saturday:
Stagecoach Amber took up a prominent position early on, but tailed off = -1pt
Whatdoidowiththat never got going = -1pt
Toulouse Express 2nd as the 2pt bet, but no extra and not good enough with the winner = -2pts
Abergavenny never dangerous. Hats off to Dettori on 25/1 winner 'Never Can Tell' for his ride = -1pt
Pimpernel 2nd decent run, but winner was too good in the end = -1pt
Domtaline WON, also drifting to 13/8 SP. Led from early on, and pulled well clear to win by 9l = +1.63
Jubail in contention (with Domtaline) early on, but blundered and tailed off = -1pt
Five Dream didn't do much = -1pt
Cathcart Castle held up, and tried well, but too far back in the end = -1pt
Holiday Reading didn't really contend = -1pt
Red Alpha 3rd, ridden to chase, but just not enough = -1pt

A poor day by all accounts with only 1 winner. -9.37pts

Sunday:
Temple Lord started well as the 2pt bet, but a mistake caused a set back, and was soon outpaced = -2pts
Silverware was heavily backed, and the first parts of the race looked to justify this, but soon lost places and eased well off = -1pt

-3pts

Not the best of times recently. Time to stick with it and keep plugging along. Thank you

Football Results

A sickening weekend it has to be said. A host of late goals meant our football plays registered a loss, and i believe these fall into the 'bad beats' category.

Aldershot lost 1-2. They were winning at HT, and registered 19 (10 on target and 9 off) attempts to Macclesfield's 7 (3 on target to 4 off) and were beaten. =-1pt as evens was not achievable
Carlisle drew 2-2. A 88th minute equaliser from Brentford cost us. = -1pt
Swindon drew 3-3. Swindon threw away a 2-0 HT lead, to 2-2, before snatching the lead again with 10 minutes to play, but a 90th minute equaliser cost us. = -1pt
Brommapojkarna drew 3-3. Quite simply the harshest result of the weekend. 3-0 up with 10 minutes to play, and after having a man off in the 77th min, capitulated to concede 3 goals in the last 10minutes, on the 80th, 85th and 93rd min. Gutted, and is our third match in recent times where our selections have let slip a 3 goal advantage = -1pt
Notts County won 3-0. At least this result brought some respectability, which qualified as a 2.5pts bet due to the late drift on their price. Pinnacle's closing line was 2.26 = +3.15pts profit

The advised acca also lost at 0.1pt.

Overall -0.95pts down for the weekend then. It isn't the worst weekend in terms of loss we have had, but it is the manner of the loss which riles the most.

Weekend Results Update

So finally, football turned a corner! We saw off September with a winning day, and I will take this as one year.

Horses:

Friday:
A quiet day with only the two bets

Thimaar WON @ advised 10/1, and was well backed into 6/1 SP. Always in contention, and had the extra pace to pull clear and win well = +10pts
Maher 3rd, but well back = -1pt

So a very nice +9pts with the last day of the month to finish a very good year.

Saturday:
Much busier day, and I apologise for not posting up the prices advised initially. I will take the SP for those with no price

Absolute Shambles led early on, and always prominent. Tailed off after blunder = -1pt
Arctic Cosmos 2nd led too, fell back a touch but came back strongly, but held off = -1pt
Smarty Socks 2nd, despite being held up early on, with a decent run towards the end. No chance with the winner though = -1pt
Campanology WON @ 11/10. Ran prominently and travelled well. Soon leading and won well = +1.1pts
Art History WON @ adv 6/1, by a short head. Chased well and pressed to just claim victory on the line. Nice when these things go for you! +6pts
Faiz 2nd just lacked the extra = -1pt
Jonny Lesters Hair led, but weakened = -1pt
Igoyougo 2nd after running very well. Always at the front, and just pipped = -1pt
Hidden Glory 2nd just lost out, after leading until late on. Just beaten = -1pt

So although Hidden Glory was a nice winner in the way he won on the line, a couple of other narrow defeats cost us unfortunately. Still a slim 0.1pts on the day.

Sunday:
Grandad's Horse WON @ short odds of 5/6. Tracked leader, made move and pulled well clear = +0.83pts
Rossmore Lad in contention but one paced = -1pt
Songe fell, just as began closing towards the lead = -1pt
Toshi well beaten = -1pt

So not the best days in terms of performance = -2.17pts

Monday:

Eastern Gift chased early on, but no impression = -1pt
Crown Counsel 3rd, just a bit one paced when needed to up the gear = -1pt

-2pts for today.

Football:
A much more satisfying weekend, and a great way to see out a dismal September.

Heracles won 2-0 = +0.36pts
Dagenham won 2-1 with a late winner as a 1.5pt bet. = +1.365
Gillingham lost 3-1 = -1pt
Ipswich won 3-1 as a 1.5pt bet = +1.95pts
Luton won, but did not drift to 1/2, so no bet.
Peterboro lost 1-2 as a 1.5pts bet = -1.5pts
Portsmouth lost 1-0 = -1pt
Scunthorpe won 1-2, with a late 2nd goal proving vital before Stevenage pulled one back = +2.26pts
Bilbao won 1-2 = +1.93pts
Udinese won 2-0 = +0.53pts

So a good strike rate with 66.67% and a profit returned of +4.895pts. Most welcome!
