Grand National Day:
Many congratulations to Ballabriggs and jockey Jason Maguire, who fought back injury sustained on the first day at Aintree to hold off Oscar Time in the 4.15. Our thoughts however turn to Ornais and Dooney's Gate who were both fatally injured. It is something that no horse racing or sports fan wants to see, but it is unfortunately a risk which will also remain.
On a personal note, our two bets advised in the National ended up with Majestic Concorde running very well early on, but after looking like weakening, the rider became unseated. Quinz was also running well, but pulled up - the temperature a likely factor.
Others:
Spirit Son WON @ advised 7/2 after a superb finish, winning by 13 lengths = +3.5pts
Majestic Concorde = -2pts
Quinz = -2pts
Apologies about Tinkertown. For some unknown reason I put the race at Aintree, when in fact it was Lingfield - god knows why! For those who didn't back it for this, good for you! -1pt
Miss Sarenne unseated rider = -1pt
Abstract Art 4th = -1pt
Hamish Mcgonagall 3rd = -1pt
Munaseeb WON at advised 3/1 after a commanding win = +3pts
King Olav 2nd = -1pt
Loyal Royal WON as 2pt bet at SP 7/1. An incredible race - bad start and behind early, but on two cracks of the whip saw a stunning run to lead 1 furlong out and win. A nice touch = +14pts
Rhal 2nd = -1pt
Sat Horse P&L = +10.5pts
Sunday saw no horse bets.
Monday:
Spinning Ridge = -1pt
Scoglio = -1pt
Polemica 2nd = -1pt
Nibani 2nd by a short head = -1pt
WHodathought = -1pt
So with a bit more luck we could have possibly had at least one winner. Still, we've been on a decent run, so can't expect it all. -5pts for monday.
Football:
Swansea WON = +1.3pts
Helsingsborg WON = +1.3pts
Bolton WON = +1.52pts
Bournemouth = -1pt
Carlisle = -1pt
Grimsby = -1pt
Liverpool WON = +1.64pts
Leyton Orient = -1pt
Oldham = -1pt
Rushden = -1pt
Tottenham WON = +0.66pts
Football P&L = +0.42pts
So a small profit with a lot of draws proving our downfall. It was certainly crucial that we posted Swansea and Helsingborgs early too, with both going off shorted than the advised price, which has helped us make a small profit.
Overall, a decent weekend, without setting the world alight. A profit though is not something to be sniffed out, and we hope your currently enjoying this run.
Thanks
