Monday 13th

I do not think the closing ceremony was without a couple of minor faults, but on the whole it was a superb way to conclude what has been a brilliant couple of weeks to be British in my eyes. I must admit, I wasn't that all enthusiastic about the whole thing, but I, like so many, have been encapsulated by the desire, the passion and the commitment of not just the athletes, but all those who made the Games happen the way they did. A fantastic reflection of our country, and I genuinely do hope there is an 'Olympic Legacy', which supersedes all the critics who moan about the cost and everything. Sometimes, you can not quite put a price, or cost, on some things which are unquantifiable.

Anyhow - now we return to the slog of what this blog is about - horse racing, and of course, the return of the football season next weekend.

Today sees an unusually higher number of meetings than expected, with three all weather meetings. We have some bets:

Ffos Las:
4.20 Belle Bayardo @ 11/2
4.50 Astra Hall @ 15/8

Kempton:
4.30 Prince Of Passion (2pts) @ 11/2
5.00 Twice Bitten @ 4/1

Thirsk:
7.50 Mahadee @ 9/2
7.50 Whispered Times @ 6/1

One 2pt bet, and the rest 1pt bets - good luck.
