International football, thank god that is over! After an interesting start to the Premier League, we had to have it rudely interrupted, but now we can get back for a few weeks to the Prem.
I am going to be cautious again today with staking, and today has to be a quick post as I am not currently at home, but there are a couple of teams I like at decent odds today...
Stoke vs Man City
Man City breezed past a poor Newcastle side on the opening weekend, and it looked like Pellegrini would release some of the shackles. However they were caught out defensively by a lively Cardiff side, and were also tested heavily by Hull the following week, despite going on to grind out a win. On the contrary, Stoke are a side that many thought would struggle - Hughes had come in seemingly tasked to change the style of the club which had struggled badly last year. It was only their strong start to the 2012-13 season which arguably kept them up. Despite Begovic keeping them in the game on the opening day away to Liverpool, where they could have still come away with a point, they have ground out a win - probably needed as their first home game. But it was the performance away to West Ham which was the standout, impressing at a notoriously difficult venue. The international break probably didn't come at a good time for them, but I am happy to back them today at decent odds at a City yet to fully convince me. I still have doubts about the Fernandinho-Yaya axis, and Navas looks like he needs to settle. Kompany is still out and they have defensive worries.
Stoke, 1pt @ 5/1
Fulham vs West Brom
Both sides have started poorly, but it is Fulham the side I want to oppose here. WBA have created chances in their games, but it is their accuracy which has been found wanting (28 shots to 4 on target). Fulham managed a smash and grab on the opening day away to Sunderland, and vs Arsenal and Newcastle they have also been comprehensively outplayed again. I want to be with Baggies here, and I think this came is set-up for them.
WBA 1.5pts @ 14/5 Coral.
Best of luck whatever you do today.
