Man U vs Chelsea

Evening,

So our Saturday bets fell by the wayside as we started the season poorly. I will report back with results and my thoughts later on as I was actually at the Villa v Liverpool match.

Anyhow, on to the big game tonight, and it is something I am relishing watching. The first real test of the season and whilst I do not want to get to carried away, the results tonight is certainly very important. This is Moyes' first home match, and a convincing performance and/or three points will arguably more positive for his tenure than it is for Mourinho's I feel. It will go someway to removing some of the doubters which are waiting to pounce, and probably even convince some of the players he is the right man?

The team news is interesting, with Chelsea opting to play without a recognised striker. I am not entirely sure Jose has mastered tactically playing with a 'false 9', and I am intrigued as to what his plan is. United's known weakness is their lack of strength in the midfield, and by flooding the centre of the park, Jose will hope to smother any supply to Rooney and Van Persie. However, whilst this appears to the main game plan, I believe as Chelsea frustrate United and see more of the ball, the movement and quality of Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle and De Bruyne will pull United's back line all over the shop. It gives Rio and Vidic, who are both 'getting on' no focal point of defence, and it means that a lightweight midfield duo of Carrick and/or Cleverley are going to have to sit deep and track runners - something both will not be accustomed to in the slightest. United's outlets will be down the flanks, but it is a big ask for Valencia to find some form after a poor season last year, whilst Welbeck is not someone likely to have the desired quality on the left side either. A lot hinges, for me, on how well United use the ball when they have it - and whether or not Rooney is the mood to find a Van Persie, who could well be left isolated.

Chelsea look a big price here with the 5/2 on offer @ BetVictor - 2pts recommended.

Good luck
