A poor day.

One football result from yesterday's picks:
Hearts = -2pts

Horses:
Archie's Wish = 3rd after weakening = -1pt
Sonara = 4th = -2pts
Grand Union = 5th = -1pts (It looked at one stage around 2 fences out that it would be a contest between Grand Union and Sonara. However, both were pretty one paced, and were overtook relatively easy unfortunately.)
Red Not Blue = Lost = -1pt
Bull Five = 2nd but beaten by the odds-on fav = -1pt
Scary Movie = 4th after being there or there abouts ahead in the closing stages, but couldn't find the extra to win = -1pt
Riot Police was a non runner.

Everything lost for us today, so and a loss of -7pts. It is of some reassurance though that our selections (for the majority) do look like they are able to win to the race at some point, but we just don't seem to be converting right now. This is how horse racing is, and no matter how much you factor in everything you think is required, something can always stump you on the day.

From a positive looking day yesterday, we've turned in a poor performance today. No winners, and a loss which pretty much wipes out yesterday's profits.

The only real shining light was Athakeel, who came home third after finishing really strongly, but it had left itself a little too much to do unfortunately. Tito Bustillo tailed off terribly when competing well, Fantasy Fry had a dreadful start and never recovered, and although Miami Gator went off 7/2 favourite, it could only manage 3rd too.

P&L for the day = -6pts
Still, back tomorrow, and determined to hit a couple of winners.

A lot of horses today with two winners, and again a couple of place finishes which makes things just a tad agonising! Still, a profit returned.

Winners:
'Northern Dare' went off at SP 8/1 and came home comfortably to give us a profit of +8pts
'Gallantry' went off too at 5/1 (this was the advised price too) to win by 1.5 lengths for a profit of +5pts

Losers:
'Syrian' went off joint fav but was beaten by 3/4 length by the other fav = -1pt
'Visions of Johanna' was heavily backed into 7/1 SP, despite being available for 14/1+ through the day and 25/1+ on Betfair. Could only finish 4th (although Gallantry won this race!) = -1pt
'Aqua Vitae' was involved in a close race, pipped into 3rd place = -1pt
'Mr Skipiton' did not really do anything to justify his short price today = -1pt
'Urban Kode' was our 2pt stake bet and was also disappointing, finishing 6 or so lengths behind the winner in 3rd. = -2pts

Nice to get back into profit, and with Dortmund winning on Friday, this weekend has been good for our football selections after a on-off January so far. A couple of very nice wins for us, Dagenham late away at Hartlepool returned the biggest profit, while wins for Stoke and WBA provided our bigger stake bets came in too. Slighty disappointing in the German league though with all selections losing (Kaiserslautern could only draw.) That said, onwards and upwards hopefully!

Horse Racing:
With the new system in place, we are seeing a much bigger range of bets. We're providing more selections, but this does not mean we are hedging our bets even more, just that we are now filtering a lot more information than we did before, so more horses become bets for us. We are backing both the old system and new system bets to the value of 1% of starting bank so this should not change for you either.

Saturday:
10 bets in total, including 2 x 2pt bets, so 12pts staked in total. Just the two winners unfortunately on a disappointing day.

There will be some horse bets, but will be posting them in the next 30 minutes. A quick note about the new testing system. We've ran a test to see how the filters would have done over the past year or so and the results are excellent. We will be posting these up as bets as we will be betting them. Sorry for the confusion with the post yesterday saying we'd be testing it, we're more then confident with the new filters. It will see a lot more horses becoming x2 bets and maybe more but hopefully this will see our returns increase significantly. If people would like us to distinguish between the types of bets let us know via email. Otherwise we will just post them as regular picks.

As mentioned, bets will be posted in the next half an hour.

No horse bets as of yet, but there is a possibility of one or two developing so will update if there is.

NEW SYSTEM:

We will be testing a new system over the next few months with our horse bets. Horses will be posted as usual, but will be made clear if they fall under this system. We feel in the long run it will make money but don't want to jump right in. We recommend you just follow for now, and hopefully if the results come good we can start punting them. It will mean more bets due to the widening of filters, but hopefully it will be profitable. On that note, we have three bets so far that fall under this system:

15:30 Southwell - 'Dubai Hills' - 1/3 Coral, VC and Hills. 4/11 Ladbrokes
16:00 Southwell - 'Sir Louis' - 11/4 various.

11/1/2011 Results

Quite a few picks today, but unfortunately a losing day.

Horses:
'Spic N Span' won at advised price 15/8 = +1.875pts
'Shelomoh' went off the outsider in the race, and pulled up unfortunately, = -1pt
'Carrig An Uisce' was a non-runner, so no loss there.
'Bartenbar' looked promising and likely to win once the favourite fell. Tailed off at the end though, = -1pt

Horse Racing P&L = -0.125pts

Football
Walsall took the lead away at Bristol Rovers, but after losing the lead, they managed to salvage a draw. Still -1.5pts
Histon were the big underdogs at Darlington, and despite going 2 goals down, pulled one back. Hoping for a comeback, player/manager Livermore was sent off and Darlington went on to win 3-1. - 1pt
